‘Tis the season when you may find yourself with a bunch of extra candy canes. Thankfully, Kelp and I have a solution! You can use them to create your very own Kelp, from Not Quite Narwhal, with a candy cane horn! Or create a whole herd of Kelps!
There are two versions of this craft. Version A lays flat, while Version B stands up with the help of a toilet paper tube.
What you’ll need:
- A Kelp coloring sheet (< download here)
- Coloring supplies
- Scissors
- A candy cane
- Tape
- A toilet paper tube (for Version B)
Version A:
Step 1: Color your Kelp however you’d like!
Step 2: Cut out Kelp all around his helmet.
Step 3: Have an adult help you cut along each of the three dotted lines.
Step 4: Carefully insert the candy cane through each opening to create Kelp’s horn.
Step 5: Tape the candy cane in place on the back.
Version B:
Follow Steps 1-3 from Version A.
Step 4: Poke 2 holes in the toilet paper tube. The first about 1/3 of the way from the bottom of the tube. The second about 1/3 of the way from the top of the tube on the opposite side.
Step 5: Insert the candy cane in through the bottom hole, and out through the top.
Step 6: Rotate the candy cane so that the hook is wrapped around the back of the toilet paper tube.
Step 7: Carefully insert the candy cane through each of the three openings in Kelp’s forehead and helmet to create the horn.
